More Local Travel Testimonials
From Traci A.K.A "The Newcomer" ...
"As a newcomer to Colombia, my impressions of the country had been confined to the city of Bogotá prior to my weekend trip with More Local. Exploring the town of Guasca, Guatavita, and many sites along the way was therefore an incredibly eye-opening experience that added so many dimensions to my positive perception of Colombia.
As a visitor in Colombia, I came hoping to learn about Colombian culture and experience it firsthand. My idea of cultural immersion is not paying for an overpriced trip on a jam-packed bus with other tourists, and so More Local absolutely exceeded my hopes for a truly local travel experience. Visiting an organic farm nearby Guasca was not only a fun adventure and beautiful escape from the city, but I also learned so much about local agriculture and life in general by talking directly with the family there. Moreover, the opportunity to share a meal in their home and help with some of the farming made me feel like I had really cultivated a unique relationship with these people without intruding into their lives as a tactless outsider. The local relationships that the guys at More Local have worked hard to develop made this possible, as I never would have (or could have) had such a rewarding and enlightening experience on my own.
The entire trip was such a perfect mix of meeting local people, experiencing the beautiful Andean countryside, hands-on education and exploration, and of course the most amazing culinary delights. Our guides’ intense dedication, local knowledge, and genuine passion and enthusiasm for local culture permeated our experience from the start of the trip to the very end. This adventure not only expanded my perception of all the wonderful things my host country has to offer, but has inspired me to continue to seek out opportunities in my daily life here that will enable me to really experience local Colombian culture".

"As for the Amazon trip we did together, I think there is only one word that can sum up everything: WONDERFUL. From the group leader to the other travelers ... the places chosen were incredible and provided wonderful life-changing experiences!
I must highlight the level of dedication and attention to detail provided by More Local, our safety and well being was a priority at all times.
The latest addition to their team, Federico the "Experience Leader", has all the ingredients to provide a relaxed, incredibly fun and rightly unstructured experience.
I think that More Local is right for all ages - the activities can be performed by all, so one is guaranteed to have fun ... very well thought out and extremely well organized. Congratulations to the managers and all who helped. "

"My Amazonian adventure with More Local was like stepping into a dream for a week…every minute of this trip was a magical, out of this world experience - from fishing for piranhas, to playing football with village kids from a tiny community of 250 people, to snatching Caymans from the river in the middle of the night, to traversing the imaginary borders between the remote jungles and rivers of Peru, Brazil and Colombia via crazy modes of transportation.
It would be impossible to access this level of intimate local life without the expertise and organization of the LARGE minority team and most importantly, the mutual relationships they have fostered with the local families, communities and businesses in the Amazon. These guys are passionate about sharing the splendor of their country with travelers while simultaneously supporting local projects to ensure the sustainability of this type of tourism. The Amazon experience is simply a must for anyone living or traveling in Colombia!"

"What a ride! I wish I could´ve stopped time! I enjoyed every second of it, everything went great!
Thanks to the More Local staff for choosing, organizing and planning every place and experience.
Thanks to the Soco community! To the Doña Juliana for sharing her house with us, her home cooked meal full of love and simplicity. John and Manuel, for their stories and teachings of the jungle, their customs, the chagras ... to the children for their joy, good football and smiles. Benjamin Constant was a great plan and Sacambú out of this world. To the Incredible George with his kindness and warmth ... the alligators, especially the one that got away... haha.
I will never forget the hammocks and sounds of nature at night. Yavary, wow! Those malokas were paradise!..kayaking, playing “Uno” – the best!
The lagos Tarapoto were beautiful! And great to swim and fish at, especially for piranhas! Leticia, Tabatinga, how wonderful! What an amazing trip!
Thank you LARGE minority and I hope to repeat this adventure"!

"Any place in the Amazon is simply marvelous. As you explore each place you visit during the trip, you discover; scenery beyond your wildest imagination, outlandish animals, an extreme rainforest, the mighty Amazon River, and the most beautiful sunsets. The LARGE minority team allowed me to discover these unique magical places which not everyone has the privilege to visit.
Most Colombians normally travel to "typical tourist spots", but this is not the case with More Local - their goal is to visit places and communities which are truly unique and "off the beaten track". I am looking forward to joining them on a new travel escapade" .

"Colombia was definitely a highlight for me out of my whole South America trip.
Everything about the More Local experiences I enjoyed and was different to any other “tour” I had booked previously. I think the main and most exciting element that More Local offers is the opportunity to be immersed in local community life and interact with people you would never meet as a “normal tourist”. This is a privilege as not many backpacking travellers explore the places or see the sights that you experience with this company.
The Amazon was a surreal journey through jungle, rivers and local villages, and being able to see Sloths, Monkeys and Pink Dolphins up close in their natural environment was amazing... especially fishing for Piranhas. Sleeping in hammocks, having home cooked meals with the families that live there (and sharing a toilet with a big spider) were also a treat!!
I also visited the beautiful coffee farms in Armenia and feel as though I now know all there is to know about good coffee. I did things I had never done before, from shirring a sheep and learning how to spin wool in Villa de Levya, milking a cow in a family farm in Quindío to making clay models in Raquira.
The trip is what you make of it. A fantastic experience that I will never forget!"

"We didn't know what to expect when we arrived in Colombia. Rain, sun, crowded city streets or murky jungles???
More Local showed us the light at the end of the tunnel. Juan was and his team were fantastic guides with so much local knowledge and a fantastic understanding of Colombia's rich natural and cultural history.
They were a pleasure to travel with and I would do it again in a shot!"
